92

A Psalm. A song for the Sabbath day.

Psalms 92.1: 1 It is a good thing to give thanks to Yahweh,

to sing praises to your name, Most High,

Psalms 92.2: 2 to proclaim your loving kindness in the morning,

and your faithfulness every night,

Psalms 92.3: 3 with the ten-stringed lute, with the harp,

and with the melody of the lyre.

Psalms 92.4: 4 For you, Yahweh, have made me glad through your work.

I will triumph in the works of your hands.

Psalms 92.5: 5 How great are your works, Yahweh!

Your thoughts are very deep.

Psalms 92.6: 6 A senseless man doesn’t know,

neither does a fool understand this:

Psalms 92.7: 7 though the wicked spring up as the grass,

and all the evildoers flourish,

they will be destroyed forever.

Psalms 92.8: 8 But you, Yahweh, are on high forever more.

Psalms 92.9: 9 For, behold, your enemies, Yahweh,

for, behold, your enemies shall perish.

All the evildoers will be scattered.

Psalms 92.10: 10 But you have exalted my horn like that of the wild ox.

I am anointed with fresh oil.

Psalms 92.11: 11 My eye has also seen my enemies.

My ears have heard of the wicked enemies who rise up against me.

Psalms 92.12: 12 The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree.

He will grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

Psalms 92.13: 13 They are planted in Yahweh’s house.

They will flourish in our God’s courts.

Psalms 92.14: 14 They will still produce fruit in old age.

They will be full of sap and green,

Psalms 92.15: 15 to show that Yahweh is upright.

He is my rock,

and there is no unrighteousness in him.

Jeremiah 33.0:

Jeremiah 33.1: 1 Moreover Yahweh’s word came to Jeremiah the second time, while he was still locked up in the court of the guard, saying,

Jeremiah 33.2: 2 “Yahweh who does it, Yahweh who forms it to establish it—Yahweh is his name, says:

Jeremiah 33.3: 3 ‘Call to me, and I will answer you, and will show you great and difficult things, which you don’t know.’

Jeremiah 33.4: 4 For Yahweh, the God of Israel, says concerning the houses of this city and concerning the houses of the kings of Judah, which are broken down to make a defense against the mounds and against the sword;

Jeremiah 33.5: 5 while men come to fight with the Chaldeans, and to fill them with the dead bodies of men, whom I have killed in my anger and in my wrath, and for all whose wickedness I have hidden my face from this city:

Jeremiah 33.6: 6 ‘Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them; and I will reveal to them abundance of peace and truth.

Jeremiah 33.7: 7 I will cause the captivity of Judah and the captivity of Israel to return, and will build them, as at the first.

Jeremiah 33.8: 8 I will cleanse them from all their iniquity by which they have sinned against me. I will pardon all their iniquities by which they have sinned against me and by which they have transgressed against me.

Jeremiah 33.9: 9 This city will be to me for a name of joy, for praise, and for glory, before all the nations of the earth, which will hear all the good that I do to them, and will fear and tremble for all the good and for all the peace that I provide to it.’”

Jeremiah 33.10: 10 Yahweh says: “Yet again there will be heard in this place, about which you say, ‘It is waste, without man and without animal, even in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, that are desolate, without man and without inhabitant and without animal,’

Jeremiah 33.11: 11 the voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the voice of those who say, ‘Give thanks to Yahweh of Armies, for Yahweh is good, for his loving kindness endures forever;’ who bring thanksgiving into Yahweh’s house. For I will cause the captivity of the land to be reversed as at the first,” says Yahweh.

Jeremiah 33.12: 12 Yahweh of Armies says: “Yet again there will be in this place, which is waste, without man and without animal, and in all its cities, a habitation of shepherds causing their flocks to lie down.

Jeremiah 33.13: 13 In the cities of the hill country, in the cities of the lowland, in the cities of the South, in the land of Benjamin, in the places around Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, the flocks will again pass under the hands of him who counts them,” says Yahweh.

Jeremiah 33.14: 14 “Behold, the days come,” says Yahweh, “that I will perform that good word which I have spoken concerning the house of Israel and concerning the house of Judah.

Jeremiah 33.15: 15 “In those days and at that time,

I will cause a Branch of righteousness to grow up to David.

He will execute justice and righteousness in the land.

Jeremiah 33.16: 16 In those days Judah will be saved,

and Jerusalem will dwell safely.

This is the name by which she will be called:

Yahweh our righteousness.”

Jeremiah 33.17: 17 For Yahweh says: “David will never lack a man to sit on the throne of the house of Israel.

Jeremiah 33.18: 18 The Levitical priests won’t lack a man before me to offer burnt offerings, to burn meal offerings, and to do sacrifice continually.”

Jeremiah 33.19: 19 Yahweh’s word came to Jeremiah, saying,

Jeremiah 33.20: 20 “Yahweh says: ‘If you can break my covenant of the day and my covenant of the night, so that there will not be day and night in their time;

Jeremiah 33.21: 21 then may my covenant also be broken with David my servant, that he won’t have a son to reign on his throne; and with the Levites the priests, my ministers.

Jeremiah 33.22: 22 As the army of the sky can’t be counted, and the sand of the sea can’t be measured; so I will multiply the offspring of David my servant and the Levites who minister to me.’”

Jeremiah 33.23: 23 Yahweh’s word came to Jeremiah, saying,

Jeremiah 33.24: 24 “Don’t consider what this people has spoken, saying, ‘Has Yahweh cast off the two families which he chose?’ Thus they despise my people, that they should be no more a nation before them.”

Jeremiah 33.25: 25 Yahweh says: “If my covenant of day and night fails, if I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth;

Jeremiah 33.26: 26 then I will also cast away the offspring of Jacob, and of David my servant, so that I will not take of his offspring to be rulers over the offspring of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob: for I will cause their captivity to be reversed and will have mercy on them.”

Sirach 44.0:

Sirach 44.1: 1 Let us now praise famous men,

And our fathers that became the father of us.

Sirach 44.2: 2 The Lord manifested in them great glory,

Even his mighty power from the beginning.

Sirach 44.3: 3 Such as did bear rule in their kingdoms,

And were men renowned for their power,

Giving counsel by their understanding,

Such as have brought tidings in prophecies:

Sirach 44.4: 4 Leaders of the people by their counsels,

And by their understanding men of learning for the people;

Wise were their words in their instruction:

Sirach 44.5: 5 Such as sought out musical tunes,

And set forth verses in writing:

Sirach 44.6: 6 Rich men furnished with ability,

Living peaceably in their habitations:

Sirach 44.7: 7 All these were honored in their generations,

And were a glory in their days.

Sirach 44.8: 8 There be of them, that have left a name behind them,

To declare their praises.

Sirach 44.9: 9 And some there be, which have no memorial;

Who are perished as though they had not been,

And are become as though they had not been born;

And their children after them.

Sirach 44.10: 10 But these were men of mercy,

Whose righteous deeds have not been forgotten.

Sirach 44.11: 11 With their seed shall remain continually a good inheritance;

Their children are within the covenants.

Sirach 44.12: 12 Their seed stands fast,

And their children for their sakes.

Sirach 44.13: 13 Their seed shall remain forever,

And their glory shall not be blotted out.

Sirach 44.14: 14 Their bodies were buried in peace,

And their name lives to all generations.

Sirach 44.15: 15 Peoples will declare their wisdom,

And the congregation tells out their praise.

Sirach 44.16: 16 Enoch pleased the Lord, and was translated,

Being an example of repentance to all generations.

Sirach 44.17: 17 Noah was found perfect and righteous;

In the season of wrath he was taken in exchange for the world;

Therefore was there left a remnant to the earth,

When the flood came.

Sirach 44.18: 18 Everlasting covenants were made with him,

That all flesh should no more be blotted out by a flood.

Sirach 44.19: 19 Abraham was a great father of a multitude of nations;

And there was none found like him in glory;

Sirach 44.20: 20 Who kept the law of the Most High,

And was taken into covenant with him:

In his flesh he established the covenant;

And when he was proved, he was found faithful.

Sirach 44.21: 21 Therefore he assured him by an oath,

That the nations should be blessed in his seed;

That he would multiply him as the dust of the earth,

And exalt his seed as the stars,

And cause them to inherit from sea to sea,

And from the River to the utmost part of the earth.

Sirach 44.22: 22 In Isaac also did he establish likewise, for Abraham his father’s sake,

The blessing of all men, and the covenant:

Sirach 44.23: 23 And he made it rest upon the head of Jacob;

He acknowledged him in his blessings,

And gave to him by inheritance,

And divided his portions;

Among twelve tribes did he part them.
